In a first-of-its-kind case, three-year old chihuahua mix Ruby Berube filed for emancipation from her mother Stephanie on the grounds that Stephanie delayed her dinner by two minutes that one time.

“I think the court will agree this is no way to treat a fur child,” Ruby said. “I’m the goodest girl, and I deserve to be treated that way.”

Ruby’s case cites other alleged abuses like leaving her alone for 30 seconds to take out the trash, forcing her to go potty when it’s lightly drizzling outside, and the existence of men within 100 feet of her personal space.

Ruby has chosen to represent herself because she recently passed the BARk exam.
